🎁 Day 5:Planning to pump? Start here.

It is Day 5 and today’s gift is a good one Reader!

Something I hear all the time from my doula clients is:
“I want to breastfeed… but I want to pump too, so I'm not the only one who can feed the baby.”

If you’re planning to pump so your partner (or someone else) can help with feeding, you are definitely not alone.

If you're like a lot of my doula clients and aren’t sure when to start pumping, what pumping supplies you need, or how to prepare before the baby arrives, you're going to love today's gift.

🎁 YOUR DAY 5 GIFT:
The Pumping Checklist

This checklist gives you a week-by-week breakdown so you can prepare before the baby arrives, without being overwhelmed.

Think of it as your “don’t forget anything” guide to getting your pump ready, understanding flanges, and feeling confident when it’s time to begin.

🤔 NEWBORN NUGGET

“When should I start pumping?”

This is a question almost every doula client asks.

If breastfeeding is going smoothly you can wait until the baby is 3-4 weeks old but be sure to start by that one month mark.

This timing protects your supply, helps prevent oversupply, and lets your baby get solidly established at the breast first.

🙌🏼 ONE SMALL THING TO DO TODAY

Reach out to your insurance company and ask whether a breast pump is covered. When you call say something like:

" What lactation benefits do I have? Do my benefits cover a breast pump?"

Most plans in the US cover a pump, but some require a prescription from your OB.

🎁 If you're just joining the Baby Prep Advent you can get the previous days' free gifts HERE.

Hi Reader, It's the final day of your Baby Prep Advent 🎁 I hope the past 12 days have given you resources that make life with your new baby go more smoothly. That has been my goal ever since I started working as a postpartum doula more than ten years ago. One of the most common questions I'm asked in my instagram DMs is how to find a postpartum doula, so I thought I'd give you a resource to make that easier. (if you're not already following on IG click here) If your first reaction to hiring a...

Welcome to Day 11 of your Baby Prep Advent Reader! As an overnight doula, one of my favorite things to do for brand new parents is make a meal in the middle of the night so it is waiting for them in the refrigerator in the morning. Then they just have to pop it in the crockpot or oven. There's so much thought around feeding the baby, sometimes new parents forget to take care of themselves. It's like the directions they give on the airplane... you need to take care of yourself so you're able...

It’s Day 10 of your Baby Prep Advent 🎁 And today’s gift is one of those simple setups that makes the early weeks with a newborn feel much more manageable. Diaper changes happen all day and all night, which is why having a changing station on each floor can be so helpful. You'll be so glad to have what you need, where you need it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🎁 YOUR DAY 10 GIFT: The Changing Station This checklist walks you through exactly...
